Why Kindness is in the deck
Kindness is card 46, in the Relationships cluster. It can split on how kindness is valued. For one player it’s a strength. For another it’s a weakness: being kind is how you end up taken advantage of.
The deck also used to have Empathy. It was cut as a near-synonym of Kindness, and Luck took its place.
Read from different places
Kindness can come with a person attached, like a stranger on a train, a neighbor who brought food, or a friend whose kindness was hard to accept.
If you came here for kindness conversation starters, the card does that work with one word. It also leaves room for the harder side of the word, for players who’ve learned to be careful with their own kindness.
It sits in the Relationships cluster with Gratitude, Respect and Friendship.
The other side: Book
The other side is Book. It was chosen for family books passed down. The Caravan describes India’s Museum of Material Memory, where families submit objects with their histories, and books are among them. Book can bring whoever owned it first.
How to play this card
Draw it. Choose a side: Kindness or Book. Roll the die. Look at the word from that side.
A follow-up from the rule card fits this one well: Who else was there?
