Why Passion is in the deck
Passion was kept from the first list of words for the game. Some players read it as enthusiasm, others as romantic love.
In this deck it’s about what lights someone up, or about falling for someone.
How people read it differently
For one player, passion means enthusiasm. It’s the thing they’d do for free, the subject they can talk about for an hour, the hobby that ate a whole summer. For another, passion means romantic love, the early, intense part of it.
The same player can hold both. Someone might name a passion they had at 15 and lost, or one they found late, or one they gave up for work. Players also differ on whether a passion is something you’re born with or something you build by doing it again and again. Each answers that from their own life.
The other side: Guitar
The back of the card shows a Guitar. In a forum thread about happiest childhood memories, one person remembers a sister playing guitar and singing (Mumsnet). A guitar can bring stories like that: lessons that didn’t stick, a song by a campfire, or an instrument still in its case.
Passion and Guitar were paired by a random draw. On this card, they happen to sit close.
How to play this card
Draw the card. Choose a side: Passion or Guitar. Roll the die. Look at the word from that side.
The six faces are MEMORIES, BODY, PEOPLE, VALUES, CHILDHOOD and FUTURE. Say as much or as little as feels right. A short answer is a full answer.
The others ask what they’re curious about, gently: What did that feel like? Who else was there? Has it always meant that to you?
