Why Anger is in the deck

Anger was kept from the first list of words for the game. Everyone feels it, and families differ in how much of it they allow.

Some players grew up in homes where voices got loud and the air cleared fast. Others grew up in homes where nobody raised their voice, and anger showed up as a closed door or a long silence. Two players from those homes can mean different things by “I was angry.”

How people read it differently

For one player, anger is something to get out. For another, it’s something to hold in. Some see it as a warning light that something matters.

The card leaves room for all of that. It can bring a childhood memory, a fight with a sibling, or something about the world that makes a player angry today.

The other side: Ring

On the back is a Ring. It was picked for promises and weddings. The Ring side can bring a proposal, a grandparent’s ring, or a ring someone still wears and doesn’t explain.

Anger and Ring were paired by a random draw. A player who chooses the Ring doesn’t need to tie it back to anger.

How to play this card

Draw the card. Choose a side: Anger or Ring. Roll the die. Look at the word from that side.

The six faces are MEMORIES, BODY, PEOPLE, VALUES, CHILDHOOD and FUTURE. Say as much or as little as feels right. A short answer is a full answer.

The others follow up gently, without judging: What did that feel like? Who else was there? Has it always meant that to you?

Anger can be a heavy card for some players. Agree together how passing works before you start.
